Nothing says summer more than enjoying a fresh juicy burger that was freshly seared on the grill. Adding a twist to the traditional cheeseburger, you’re sure to wow your family with this recipe!
Here’s how to make them!
4 (6 oz) ground turkey patties
4 slices of cheese (I used Colby Jack)
6 oz of pre-sliced mushrooms
1/3 cup of pre-sliced green onions
1 TBSP of minced garlic
1 jar of Mezzetta peppers
Several slices of yellow onion (optional to top burger)
Several slices of tomato (optional to top burger)
2 TBSP of mayo
1/4 cup of barbecue sauce
Combine the mayo and barbecue sauce. Blend well and set aside.Preheat grill. Combine the mushrooms, green onion slices and minced garlic into a microwavable bowl and stir. Microwave on high 1-2 minutes or until mushrooms are tender. Set aside.Sprinkle pepper over both sides of the turkey patties; place on grill. Just before the burgers are done, spoon some of the mushroom mixture and and handful of Mezzetta pepper rings over the burgers and top with a slice of cheese.
Once the burgers are ready to go, place them on the bottom halves of the buns and top with several more Mezzetta pepper rings, tomato, onion slices and a few spoonfuls of the barbecue sauce mixture.I served this with a corn and black bean salad, but it’s really good with just about any side! This recipe has been in my book for about 10 years and I always enjoy making this in the summer.
