FENNOfashion Joins Miss Selby’s Soaps & Such

I am happy to announce that I’ve teamed up with Renee Selby of Miss Selby’s Soaps and she’ll now be carrying FENNOfashion in both of her boutiques! I’ve known Miss Selby since 2010 and couldn’t be happier to be a part of her growing natural skin care company. (Click here to check out all the great products she offers)

Her newest location is opening this Monday, April 1st at the Middletown Towne Mall, which is right off of exit 32 on 1-75.

I am loving the interior of her newest store. It reminds me so much of my own office. PINK everywhere!

Her other shop is located in Waynesville, Oh  and  is nestled in the midst of downtown Waynesville’s many quaint shops and restaurants. If you ever find yourself exploring this adorable destination, make sure to stop in and check put her bright pink store. They are open Thursday – Sunday 11am-5pm.

Miss Selby’s Soaps & Such mainly carries local products ranging from gourmet candies and jams to jewelry such as FENNOfashion and handmade natural bath products such as the ones pictured above. The cupcake soaps look good enough to eat!

Miss Selby’s Soap and Such is a perfect place to find a gift for anyone, or to pick up something new for yourself.

So, if you live in the Cincinnati area, you’ll definitely have to check out her stores!

Event: Seasonably Chic Showcase THIS Saturday!

I think the image below says it all.  I’ll be there this upcoming Saturday for my 4th year participating in this event. I’ve been working up a storm creating newly designed fall and winter accessories, so  if you live in Cincinnati, I sure hope you can come by and say hello!

A Quick Trip to Good Ol’ Austin, Texas

I was fortunate enough to take a trip back to Austin, Texas last week and wow, did I have an awesome time. It’s always nice to catch up with friends and gorge on breakfast tacos, tex-mex and visit some of my favorite restaurants. I also enjoy the alone time. To me, sitting in an airport reading is really rejuvenating. Call me crazy, but time where I’m all by myself  is usually scarce. By all means, I’m not complaining…but being able to go shopping without a screaming toddler is a luxury!  So I did a little shopping for fall clothes at some of my favorites stores in Austin. But the purpose of my trip, aside from a break from the computer and alone time, was to re-stock Creatures Boutique with a LOT of new jewelry I created over the past few months.

Creature’s is now the only boutique in Austin that I sell my jewelry at and also happened to be the first boutique that started carrying FENNOfashion five years ago! My has a lot changed since then. Anyway, here are just a few photos I snapped while visiting lovely Texas. I would have taken more, but I purposely halfway unplugged…because every so often, it’s nice to just enjoy the moment and not worry about capturing it in the perfect picture.

1//Visiting Lake Austin Resort & Spa that one of my good friends so graciously treated me too. It was heaven. 2// One of my favorite little joints to indulge in breakfast tacos, Cafe Java. 3// Tex-Mex heaven 4// Enjoying company of good friends at Cool River Cafe. (They have ahhh-mazing wine, FYI)  5// Just a fraction of the jewelry I delivered to Creatures Boutique. 6// Coming in for landing overlooking Cincinnati. The color of the trees looked just as beautiful in the sky as they do on the ground.

If you happen to live in Austin, Texas or are just visiting, I highly recommend making a quick stop into Creatures. ..not saying that just because they carry my jewelry.  It’s on South Congress, so there are so many eclectic little places to eat, listen to music, grab a cupcake from a cupcake trailer and find locally made goods.

Oh, and I can’t forget about what John and Myles sent me while I was away. How adorable is this? I have the best family.

A Nice Little Article about Yours Truly

I was so delighted to be featured in Cincy Chic- an online women’s publication earlier this month. The article couldn’t have been written better-  and was definitely worth sharing here on the blog. Thanks again, Cincy Chic!

Megan Fenno is a handbag and accessory designer, blogger for cincysavers.com, wife, mother and now radio personality. Is there anything this woman can’t do?
Fenno’s new on-air radio segment “One Chic Mother to Another,” co-hosted by WKRQ-Q102′s Holly Morgan, recently launched in October 2011. It airs on 101.9FM weekdays at 1:25 p.m. and the show offers advice, tips and fashion ideas for mothers.
Fenno knows first hand how busy a mom’s life can be. She just had her baby boy, Myles, in early 2011. She’s now working full-time at WKRQ while also maintaining her design business FENNOfashion. So, she says, the segment revolves around tips for making a mom’s life easier – and more fashionable. Plus, she says, her chemistry with Morgan makes the show even more entertaining. Fenno says the two are constantly laughing during the segment and they truly enjoy each other’s company.

According to Fenno, the new segment is a huge hit. She says moms especially love Tuesday’s “Do it Yourself Day” and the fun quirky ideas that pop up in their banter. Fenno says she often draws inspiration from home and personal experiences – everything from finding the perfect bathing suit and testing out new beauty products to laundry tips and organization ideas.
Cincinnati holds a special place in Fenno’s heart. She grew up in the area, and after moving around for several years, she found her way back to the Queen City. “I love Cincinnati and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else in the world,” she says. “There is so much here and there truly is something for everyone.” After accomplishing so much here in the area, the future holds a lot of promise for Fenno.
Although she has many feathers in her cap, Fenno has a few new aspirations on the horizon. She says there’s been discussion of expanding the segment into TV, so stay tuned – literally – for that news! For more information about Fenno’s on-air segment and blog, click here.

How-To: Style Necklaces

When putting on your jewels to complete your ensemble, do you ever get stumped? I mean how much jewelry is too much, right? Especially when it comes to necklaces. There are so many different styles, lengths, colors and textures.

You’ve got the subtle necklaces such as dainty little chains with small pendants to crazy over-the-top bib necklaces that have more beads and jewels on it than you could count in one day. Finding the right necklace to accentuate your look can sometimes be complicated!

So with that said, here are a few tips to help you find the perfect necklace that not only looks fabulous but fits your personal style:

Consider the type of neckline your top has:

  • Both long “Y” shaped necklaces and short necklaces look great with V neck tops.
  • Take in to account the depth of your shirt, too. I like to always have necklaces stop just above the neckline of a  shirt or at least a couple inches below so the necklace doesn’t get stuck in my shirt.
  • Scoop necklines look best with shorter necklaces.
  • Keep a simplistic neckline (sans the rouching or ruffles) if you plan on having your necklace as the focal point of your outfit.

Now that we have the necklines down, here are a few more tips on styling necklaces:

  • Go with a simple necklace if you are wearing a super busy or patterned top. Think a simple chain necklace with a small pendant.
  • If you are planning on wearing solid colors, wearing necklaces with multiple layers and colors could really brighten up what would be a rather dull outfit.
  • Layering necklaces is another option that really can make your look dazzle.
  • Another trend going on now is wearing mixed metals. Think bright silver with antiqued gold.
  • Make a statement by wearing a statement necklace and use it as the focal point of your look.
  • Sometimes plain old trial and error is the best way to decide what you feel comfortable wearing.

Just make sure you don’t try and pull off something crazy like this…unless you like that kind of thing!

A note on the side..

So really, it’s  been awhile since I have posted anything other than the weekly “My Friday Baby” post, with exception of a few events I was a part of and of course, the new job, which in case you missed that, you can read all about it here

And I have to admit, I miss you all! Really, I do. With that said, I am going to start sharing some of the writing I do for cincysavers.com and WKRQ.com over here, because I know it is a lot to try and keep track of me in now three different places!

After all, this is a fashion blog and despite posting pictures of a cute baby weekly,  you probably also want to read about fashion, find useful tips, learn about new DIY projects and find out about happening events here in Cincinnati. The stuff I used to write about pre-baby.

Okay, okay I am done. This is just a long drawn out version of the two little words that could have said it all. “I’m back!”
