It was exactly a year ago when I wrote about how I was working on kicking my sugar habit. While there are so many different ways to help improve your diet and curb your cravings for carbs and sugar, I’ve found that still being able to indulge in little treats along the way surely helps. Because you know, chocolate can be a weakness for many!

This recipe for Chocolate Craving Buster Treats has been so helpful and one of my favorite treats if I’m craving carbs or sugar. These little chocolatey cups not only curb your cravings but can also help boost your metabolism and improve your mood. And if that wasn’t enough, they are SO simple to whip up, requiring only 3 ingredients!

But back to the health benefits, here are just some of the many benefits of consuming coconut oil, cocoa powder & almond butter:

Coconut Oil

This might sound crazy, but did you know there have been over 1,500 studies conducted proving that it is indeed one of the healthiest things you can consume.

Coconut oil contains medium-chain fatty acids, which helps boost your metabolism while breaking down fat. Consuming the oil is also known for helping boost your immune system, improve memory, brain function and provide both energy and endurance.

Cocoa Powder

You might be surprised, but organic cocoa powder has over 40 times the antioxidants of blueberries!

It’s also a great source of ‘happy chemicals’ including serotonin, tryptophan, tyrosine and phenylethylamine. These neurotransmitters are associated with cozy feelings of well-being, happiness, and can even alleviate depression. So yes, consuming cocoa powder is not only good tasting, but it’s really good for you.

Almond Butter

Almond butter also has a slew of health benefits including lowering the risk of heart disease and are a terrific source of minerals and Vitamin B2, which is necessary for energy production.

Just a note of caution: Eat these little treats in moderation. They’re a little over 100 calories a pop, so don’t eat five in a row and derail your entire diet. Plus, they’re actually quite filling, so you’d likely get a stomach ache if you ate more than one or two in a sitting. Yes, I know from experience. Whoops.

Chocolate Craving Buster Treats

These little treats are simple to make, using only three ingredients and have major health benefits including the ability to curb sugar & carb cravings, boost your metabolism and improve your mood!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Coconut Oil
  • 1 cup Cocoa Powder
  • 1 cup Almond Butter

Instructions

  1. 1. Add the Coconut Oil to a saucepan over medium heat and stir until it becomes liquid. 

    2. Add the Cocoa Powder and continue to stir. 

    3. Add the Almond Butter and blend the 3 ingredients until smooth. 

    4. Spoon mixture into small muffin cups and refrigerate for 2 hours. 

    5. Remove the treats from the muffin pan (and you can remove the wrappers) and store in the fridge.
